Falling star

This was fun to color :)

It was such a different format than I am used to. The background and her is Chameleon pens and the hair is mostly faber castell brush pens and pencils.

Light and darkness

Another one from Vintrerdrömmar :)

I loved making this one. Coloring pages that contains a specific light source and contrasting darkness are my favorites. For this one I also used Chameleon markers. (You can tell there are my absolute favorites right now right :D)

I was suppose to send this page in as an application for the Chameleon design team but I got so lost in the coloring I forgot to take step by step photos! But a process video of it I manage to make at least. The settings was all wrong when I made the video so I apologize for the poor quality. Next video will be better, promise.

Enchanted Forest

Johanna Basford rocks!

This is a pic from her book, Enchanted Forest, I usually don't have the patience to color a hole page in one of her big books in one "session" so to speak. It takes me at least a couple of days to finish. Bur this one was so much fun to make, it took only a couple of hours.
I wanted it to have a lacey, shiny feel to it.It turned out almost like I wanted it. The shadows in particular is to messy for my taste but since I am mostly working with pens it is hard to erase :)

Some night scene

I wanted to practices some night scenery and how the shadows look at night. So I took this page in "Vinterdrömmar" by Hanna Karlzon and got to work.

  • Firstly I colored the whole thing with a blue Chameleon Pen (BV4 Blue Violet Pen). I left a small strip of white on everything that was facing the moon to make it look like it was moon reflection.
  • Then I started to color everything with the color I wanted it to have. Keep in mind when doing this that orange and yellow on blue will become green and red will become a sort of brownish purple and so on.
  • I wasn't very careful keeping inside the lines when coloring as this was just a practices page. However the final result look pretty soft at the end I think. probably because there wasn't so many strict lines :)
  • The shading was then done with the same blue marker (BV4) and I shaded mostly on the parts that was furthest away from the moon and those parts that was hidden or obscured.
  • The snow and stars where made lastly with my UinBall White pen.

Hope you like it! :)

More from "vinterdrommar" (winterdreams) coloring book

Here is a ginger bread house before and after shading. Even though I like them both I always prefer a pic with shadows. It makes the pic more interesting I think. I used Chameleon pens for the most part and the some Faber Castel brush pens for the shadows. I dont know if you can se the structure on the house to the right? I made that with just one color of Chameleon pens. First just a cuple of smoth layers and then added a third layer with the same pen (BR2 Hot Cocoa) just makeing dots.

I also made this quick Christmas card. I wanted to give the feel of gold and silver without using gold and silver pens. It turned out quite well :) This one is made with chameleons as well.

As you can see I am a fan of traditional colors. I do admire those who can use whatever color they like and still make the picture look fantastic I am just not one of them :) Not yet anyway. I will work on it :D

Vinterdrömmar

I bought the adult coloring book "Vinterdrömmar" (winter dreams) by Hanna Karlzon just five days ago and I have already colored six of the pages :)

This is the first one I made. I know I sad it before but I just LOVE the gradations and blending you can make with the Chameleon pens!
And of course I had to make some details and bling whit my white pen.

This is what the book looks like:

Pens pens pens!

I thought I would show you the pens I use when i color

First of we have the ones from Faber Castell (my favorites). There is also a bigger pack of these ones that I am hoping santa will bring to me :)

Secondly, my newest pens. Chameleon pens. I wrote about them in a previous entry here. They are along with the brush pens above, impossible for me to live with out :D

And here it is! The white uniball pen! I have equal parts of love and hate for this pen.
When it works; awesome! When i dosen't work; I want to crawl down in a hole and die

And oifcourse I have hundreds of thousends of black pens and pencils in differnet shapes and sizes (no, I am not exaggerating...)

And from time to time when i draw I also use paints. Watercolor, acrylics and gouache.

Pirate ship

I wanted to make a night picture with a sunset. I like the sky but the sunset looks like crap. Need to practis on that :)

Anyway. Here is a pirateship. It is about 12cm x 17cm. Made with Faber Castell Pitt brush pens and Chameleon pens. And of course my beloved white UniBall pen :

Chameleon Pens!!

Hi again!

I got these Chameleon Markers from my boyfriend the other day (been wanting them like crazy) and I absolutley love them! They are so different from all the other pens I have got.

Below you can se the first picture I made with these markers. During the process I discovered various pros and con about these pens. They are

Cons:

  1. Even though you can blen the markes with each other there isnt a wide range of  colors. However, I sam on there homepage that they are relesing 30!! more colors this spring. Awesome!
  2. There are only a brush nib and a thick nib in each color. Sometimes when I made finer details I wished for a thin nib in the same color as I was working with.
  3. The blender is more of a highlighter when working on dark areas. Would have liked to be able to lend dark color with dark color.

Pros:

  1. They blend beautifully!! I mean, look and the clouds, castle and moon! Lovely
  2. You can blend two colors to get a new color. I blended to get a bigger varaity of browns and greens.
  3. The flow of the brush nib is almost like an accrual brush.
  4. You can color big areas without having any brushstrokes showing. Like the grass and sky.
  5. Love the detial marker and the fact that it has two differnet sizes of nibs.
  6. The blender can "take away" any misstakes you made outside the lines (as long as they are not black or to big)

Here is my first art piece made with these markers. I worked on a scrapbook cardstock paper.
I have entered this one in Chameleons Marker contest! :D Here is the link:

Here are some closeups.

30 day coloring challenge: day 16

This was a crappy day, color wise.
Everything I tried to color just turned out crappy..  :(

So, I just did a couple of layout background using melted crayons.
Crayon shavings and the  I ironed on the paper with a Parchment paper in between so the crayons melted. Finally I stamped randomly witch different clear stamps and black ink.

At least these turned out pretty good.

30 day coloring challenge: day 12

I cant wait for the gardening season to start. Since I live in the north of Sweden we still have quite a bit of snow here so I have to wait at least a month more before I can hope for anything to grow outside :(

But I am treating my self to colorful flowers in the mean time. And since I am addicted to my faber castell PITT artis pens and white gel pen I used them again :)

30 day coloring challenge: day 9

I am a really big fan of my white gel pen (duhh) and it works best if it is a dark background. So this page got a coat of black acrylics before I started coloring. Putting in the "bling" at the end was the most fun part of this page :)

30 day coloring challenge: Day 5

Hi again!

Yesterday I started coloring a page in my coloring book "the enchanted forest" but I did not have the time to finish it. But today I got to finish it :)
I wanted it to be a really dark and glittery night scene so when I was done coloring I had a LOT of shading to do. I started to shade with a grey marker and the continued to use darker colors that was already in the pictures. After that I did ANOTHER layer of grey and black shading.

Lastly I went nuts witch my white gel ink pen and some white chalks.

Without the shading...

...and with the shading.
